Foreword
Terry Grimwood
Thanks for visiting this, the first ever issue of Wordland. I’d like to welcome you in and offer you the run of the place. Feel free to browse, to dip in and out and work through the excellent, prose and poetry you’ll find within these virtual walls in whatever way suits you best. I would only urge you to read everything because that is what every Wordland story and poem deserves.
The theme is twilight. That odd time, neither day-nor-night, when one thing closes down and another begins. We’ve all heard the term twilight years, so often used to denote the last phase of life or career, but even that is a bridge, an entrance as well as an exit.
Themes are odd things, they can seem obvious but then lend themselves to work that is far more subtle, writing that gives the subject a sideways glance. And that is what you’ll experience in this corner of the internet. It won’t be an entirely comfortable or easy journey, but it will be a rewarding one.
